About Me
Kelsie Smagler, LCSW
Hi, I’m Kelsie (she/her), a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) offering virtual therapy to adults (18+) across New York.
My graduate and post-graduate education have led me to specialize in working with people navigating anxiety, perfectionism, relationship dynamics, big life transitions, and that all-too-familiar sense of feeling a little lost or untethered.
My clients tend to be deep thinkers, high achievers, and people who are really good at holding it all together, until they realize it’s not sustainable anymore. If that’s you, I see you.
One of the most important and mutually beneficial aspects of therapy is the therapeutic relationship–the bond between client and therapist. I have had the privilege of experiencing this on both sides, as the client and as the clinician.
My approach
I’m warm, collaborative, and real. I show up as a full human in the therapy space: someone who’s compassionate and present, but also direct and no-nonsense. I’ll challenge you when needed, and hold space for you when things feel heavy. I believe that therapy should be a space where messy is embraced, vulnerability is honored, and humor is part of the healing.
I draw from evidence-based modalities like acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), relational therapy, mindfulness, and strengths-based approaches. We’ll work together as a team to understand your patterns, build new skills, and cultivate the kind of self-trust and resilience that help you reconnect with your values, your voice, and your sense of self.
I’m a lifelong learner–always expanding my knowledge to better serve the people I work with. I practice from a feminist, inclusive lens and am deeply affirming of LGBTQ+ identities, neurodiversity, and all the parts of you that may not always feel welcome in other spaces.
I’m honored to do this work
Being invited into someone’s world—to witness their pain, their growth, their becoming—is a profound privilege. I’m endlessly grateful for the depth and meaning that comes from the relationships I build with my clients.
Outside of therapy, you can find me hanging out with my dog Ellie, singing at full volume, or planning my next travel adventure.
